Jul 23, 2009 5:48pm I have been doing a 10, 8, 6, 4, 2 pyramid for a few weeks now. Can I change it up to a reverse pyramid, or should I go with a 5x5 routine? I am also going to try to drop at least 10 lbs of body weight in the next month, but still try to increase bench. Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated.

Jun 4, 2009 7:57pm I'll give the 5 x 5 a try. I've done similar things before but never stuck with it for too long. I've also read it's important to train explosively with lighter weights from time to time. Anyone have thoughts on this?

Jun 4, 2009 3:32am do you guys reccomend touching your chest when you bench cuz i hear going down til your arms are at 90 puts less stress on your connective tissue in your shoulder and keeps the weight centered on your pecs instead of shifting the load to your front delt

Jun 3, 2009 10:22am I had the same problem and switched my routine to a modified Mad Cow (Bill Starr) 5x5 routine. It has helped increase my bench by 10 pounds in one month so far. Still on the program so I'll see where it gets me.

Jun 2, 2009 2:34pm Hey guys , I'm new to the site and looking for any good tips. I've been working out for over 5 years now and hit all body parts equally. However , once my bench got to 260 , I really wanted to hit 300 lbs. I've been stuck at 280 forever. I try to blast my chest from all angles and change it up with drop sets / supersets. How do I bust through?
