Nov 7, 2009 5:37pm Great Info Packleader. I am glad to learn that you can gain/retain muscle on 80-120 g of carbs daily. Most nonDiabetic Bodybuilders would have you believe a higher level of carbs is necessary to gain muscle.
I was doing well (A1c of 5.5) on 150 g of carbs, but I wasn't gaining much muscle. So I increased the carbs up to 250 g. I did gain some muscle and fat and my A1c is now 6.1.
Would like to hear experiences of others.

Nov 4, 2009 6:15pm I have gained plenty of muscle and lost fat. Losing fat is NOT easy being a type 2. Estrogens levels are high with all the extra fat. But making sure to get those Essential Fatty Acids is important. I only do a MRP of whey once a day. I hit the iron hard and do plenty of cardio. Sometimes LISS, but a good amount of HIIT as well. Trying to keep the metabolism higher.

Nov 4, 2009 6:13pm I don't know what will help anyone or not. I went from my heaviest of 303 now at 229. I was taking Januvia for glucose control and lipitor for my high cholesterol. I no longer need to take Januvia or Lipitor. My cholesterol is fantastic and finally my good cholesterol is over 40. I was only 30-36. My last A1C was 5.6 with no meds. I eat 6 times a day. Every 2.5-3 hrs. Carbs low between 80-120, moderate fan and plenty of low fat protein sources.

Aug 30, 2009 2:37pm I joined the group this morning. My last AiC was 5.5 and my morning fasting was around 100. But I decided to experiment to see if I could eat more carbs and gain a little mass. I have managed to gain about 3 lbs, but now my morniing fasting number is closer to 115. Is anyone able to do a BULK and keep their BS under control???

Jun 23, 2009 6:36pm HbA1C 6.3 last week. Ugh, I'm doing a LOW carb diet AND am at 2500mg of Metformin a day (the max). Need to get this weight off! That should help. Not much in the way of posting here. I'm a bit dissappointed as I was looking for a group that would understand about the difficulties us Type II's have in gaining mass or losing fat. Well, I'll keep checking back.
